Despite there being no declared candidates for the Progressive Conservative nomination in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo, a date has been set to select the eventual nominee.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Riding Association will choose the candidate for the byelection on the evening of June 20 at St. George Hall in Waterloo. Party members who live in the riding will vote following speeches by the candidates.
At this point no one has thrown their hat in the ring, but Ontario PC Party communications director, Alan Sakach, tells 570 News it’s only a matter of time before candidates emerge.
“There has been a lot interest from several individuals and it’s only fair to leave it up to them to announce their intentions at the appropriate time, so I’m not goint to scoop them,” says Sakach.
Sakach says any interested candidates must be declared and party memberships in place by those interested in voting for the nominee by June 5 at 5 p.m.
