Residents of Guelph and Waterloo Region are no strangers to fraud, and online fraud and identity theft is a growing issue.
That’s why Guelph Police, as part of police week, will be holding seminars – hoping to keep area residents from falling victim.
Constable Mike Gatto says last year alone more than 200 fraud complaints were filed, over 30 were internet based.
But Constable Gatto says many go unreported.
Nationally, residents lost almost 100-thousand dollars to identity theft in December of last year alone.
The Facebook and Internet Safety presentation happens tonight at 7pm, in the CRESC building (160 Clair Rd).
