Ranieri 2011 Athlete of the Year

Waterloo squash player Miranda Ranieri was named the 2011 Civitan Sports Athlete of the Year at a gala in Kitchener Tuesday night.
This was the fourth time she was nominated for the award.
Ranieri’s 2011 included a gold and a pair of bronze medals at the Pan-Am Games in Mexico, as well as a national title.
This will also be her last year of playing competitive squash, as she will attend
optometry school in Florida later this year.
“When I was announced as the winner I was very, very shocked, excited…honoured all at the same time.” Ranieri told 570 News.
She started playing squash at age 7.
