A four year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Force has received the Award of Valour, given by Ontario Women in Law Enforcement.

Constable Sharon Bellows received the award at a ceremony Friday.

It was in 2011 that Constable Bellows managed to chase down a suspect, and keep him pinned, until other officers arrived – even after having her head slammed on a concrete sidewalk.

Constable Bellows is assigned to Central Division Patrol.
