The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of an early morning fire in Kitchener.

Officials tell 570 News the blaze broke out in the basement of a single family house about 6 am.

The Gracefield Crescent home was evacuated by the occupants — although one man was taken to hospital — his injuries are unknown at this time.

Damage is pegged at about 10-thousand dollars.
