Charges recommended against 200 Stanley Cup rioters

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130)  – A total of 200 people now face charges in last summer’s Stanley Cup riot in Vancouver.

Insp. Les Yeo says 25 suspected rioters were added to the list Friday, and police are working on forwarding more charges to the Crown.

So far, charges have been approved against 85 individuals.

Seven people have pleaded guilty to various offences including participating in a riot, break and enter and assaulting a police officer.

Rioters set vehicles on fire, smashed store windows and looted merchandise.

So far, only one person has been sentenced for their part in the Stanley Cup Riot.

Ryan Dickinson was given 17 months in jail.
