Regional Police help arrest a wanted American – here in the Region

An American man wanted by authorities in Los Angeles and San Francisco for bankruptcy fraud has been arrested in Kitchener.

Regional Police say 47-year-old Glen Allan Ward was arrested at a downtown ATM on April 5th without incident.

Police say the man, who allegedly goes by several aliases, was wanted on a Canada-wide provisional warrant under the Extradition Act.

Inspector Kevin Thaler lists those aliases to 570 News, “it looks like (Ward) bounced amongst a number of identities to stay on the lam, including Sheldon Cross, John Wells, Sean Hamilton, Jeremy Mitchell, John Mitchell, Brandon Grant, Brandon Cartwright, Brandon Cohen, Brandon Michaels, Brandon Mercer, Jacob Becker, Jacob Alexander, and Matthew Becker.”

Thaler said Ward was trailed through other areas of the country while on the run, before the arrest was made here, “there are investigations on-going in British Columbia, Quebec, as well as other parts of Southern Ontario.”

The FBI says the arrest follows a 12-year investigation and it claims Ward fled to Canada from Los Angeles while on bail in 2000.

In an emailed comment to 570 News from the FBI in L.A., Public Affairs Specialist Laura Eimiller writes, “the allegations relate to a multi-million foreclosure fraud scheme with multiple victims.”

Ward appeared before Superior Court today.
