A group of local motorcycle riders are among the thousands taking the trip to Port Dover today for Friday the 13th.
The Kitchener chapter of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club makes the trip every time Friday the 13th rolls around. “We basically ride down to Port Dover in groups…we park and we walk around and we enjoy the show. It’s quite a spectacle to see all those bikes,” says Third Officer and Senior Road Captain, Tony Mirotta.
He says they’ve seen bikes from as far away as the U.S. and Europe as well as, “all kinds of custom bikes (and) all kinds of interesting people.”
With the nice weather expected today, Mirotta expects Port Dover to be quite busy. “I know it’s tough to get Fridays off but the real hardcore biker enthusiasts somehow find a way to make it down there,” he jokes.
The Southern Cruisers Riding Club expects to have about 20 people heading to Port Dover today. They leave from the Tim Hortons at Homer Watson and the 401 at 9:30 a.m.
