Rangers win; 2nd round series with Plymouth now a best of 3 affair

The Aud was rocking last night as the Kitchener Rangers posted a huge win: 5-1 over the Plymouth Whalers, to even their OHL Western Conference semifinal at 2 wins each.

Game five is Saturday night in Plymouth.

The Whalers scored first before the Rangers responded with five unanswered goals.

Rangers head coach Steve Spott told the 570 News postgame show he could tell his team was nervous before the game and it carried over into the first period.

He credits goaltender John Gibson with keeping the Rangers in the game until the momentum swung their way.

Max Iafrate had one of the Rangers goals.

It was his second of the playoffs and his first in this series against his former club;  something he admitted after the game was special.

The other Western Conference semifinal is also tied at two, after London dumped Saginaw 5-2.
