The D-BOX experience comes to Waterloo

As of Friday, a whole new movie viewing experience awaits fans at Galaxy Cinemas in Waterloo.

Cineplex Entertainment says that Galaxy will be the latest theatre in Canada to be fitted with D-BOX motion technology with the completion of the installation set to coincide with the release of the new film “The Three Musketeers.”

Director of Communications for Cineplex Entertainment Kyle Moffatt tells 570 News how different the experience is, “your watching a movie and there’s an explosion – your chair’s going to shake, it’s going to vibrate.  If you’re watching something that has flight and you’re taking off, your chair will actually tilt back – when you land it will tilt forward….so you get to experience everything on screen – right in your seat.”

Moffatt adds that the D-BOX seats are separate from the regular seats but that it’s easy to sign up for them.

“When you get to the box office you say I want 2 tickets for the Three Musketeers which will be the first film that offers the D-BOX experience and these 2 or 3 rows will be visible for people as soon as they walk into the auditorium.”

There is also some level of control for the viewer.  “There’s a dial on the seat…” according to Moffatt “that allows you to turn up the experience or turn it down, so if you want to get a good shake then you’ll turn it all the way up – but if you find this is a little too much (for me) – you’ll want to turn it down just a bit.”

The newest incarnation of “The Three Musketeers” is the first film to get the treatment – opening this weekend.
