Another hot, sticky day

A humidex advisory remains in effect with temperatures expected to soar again today.

While some showers or thunderstorms are expected to pass by, 570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson is expecting a high of 30 with a humidex value near 40.

Toronto broke a high temperature record on Sunday. Environment Canada reported temperatures in the city reached 35 C at around 3:00 p.m. That broke the previous record of 34.4 C set on July 17, 2002.

Health officials are reminding anyone at risk from heat-related illnesses, to be extra cautious when spending time outside. If you have an elderly relative or friend, it would be a good idea to check on them.

As well, remember to drink plenty of water and do not leave your pets or children unattended in a vehicle for any period of time.
