RIM needs to develop QNX, says tech analyst

One of North America’s leading tech analysts says Research in Motion needs to develop its QNX operating system to be successful against its competitors.
Brian Modoff of Deutsche Bank in San Francisco tells 570 News, the soon-to-be-released 7.0 platform is not the answer. He says, “We don’t think 7.0 as a product line is really going to do much for the company incrementally. So, you’re still dealing with this gap from now until QNX gets out and then, once it’s out, we’ll see whether or not there’s take-up of that product.”
Modoff says seven new smartphones on the 7.0 platform is simply “more of the same.” He says the company needs to accelerate the development of QNX into other devices, not just the PlayBook.
