It’s one of the most anticipated days on the calendar.  It’s our day.  July 1st is…CANADA DAY.

One of the most anticipated parts of Canada’s birthday is also the various celebrations taking place throughout the Region – especially, the fireworks!

With that in mind www.570News.com has compiled a one-stop list of the events taking place around Waterloo Region this Canada Day.

+++ UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS +++

Columbia Lake Fields, Columbia Street West in Waterloo.
Friday July 1st from 2:00pm to 11:00pm
Admission and parking are free

Neil Beaumont from our sister station CHYM 96.7 will be emceeing the festivities at the 27th annual University of Waterloo Canada Day Celebrations on behalf of the University of Waterloo and Federation of Students.

Shortly after 10:00pm the crowd will be invited to join the Waterboys in the singing of “O Canada”.  That will be followed by the beginning of the fireworks display.

+++ CAMBRIDGE CELEBRATES CANADA DAY +++

Friday, July 1, 2011
8:00am – 10:30pm
Riverside Park in Cambridge

Join The Heritage Canada Foundation, the City of Cambridge and Rogers Community 20 as Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day.  

The day starts at 8:00am with a fishing derby in the park.  

At 1:00pm the largest Canada Day parade winds its’ way along King St. to Riverside Park where the fun continues with Conklin rides, beer tent, entertainment, vendors, Tiger Paw Exotic Petting Zoo, a children’s activity area and much more.  

The day is capped off with the regions’ most spectacular fireworks sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.  All activities are fee.

+++ CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS IN FERGUS +++

Friday, July 1st
Centre Wellington Sportsplex in Fergus.

The event is sponsored by the Township of Centre Wellington and activities include live music, food vendors, a kiddie midway.

Gates open at 6:00pm and the evening will conclude with a fabulous fireworks display at 10:00pm.

Admission is a $2.00 donation per person. A portion of the proceeds from the event will support the family-oriented projects of the Fergus Optimist club.

The Rotary Club of Guelph presents – Canada Day in the Park
Friday, July 1st
Riverside Park in Guelph

Fun family activities and musical fireworks from 11:00am to 10:00pm
Donations: $2.00/per person or $5.00/per family to help support local charities and events.
