Optimism reigns at BlackBerry World

Despite Research In Motion’s recent profit warning, and lowered expectations by analysts for its share price, optimism has reigned supreme at the BlackBerry World Conference in Orlando.

The conference is a worldwide gathering of RIM’s leading clients and customers.
Globe and Mail tech reporter, Omar El-Akkad, speaking to 570 News from the conference, says the company’s corporate customers are firmly in RIM’s corner – buoyant and optimistic.

That optimism is fuelled in part, he says, by the unveiling at the conference of a thinner, faster version of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone and the latest BlackBerry operating system.

Also announced at the conference was a partnership between Microsoft and Research In Motion, whereby the Bing search engine becomes the BlackBerry default search engine.
