FCM says commute times should be an election issue

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities says long commute times should be an election issue.

To that end, it has launched an online campaign to encourage individuals to make their concerns known at the federal level.

Kitchener mayor Carl Zehr, who is also the Chair of the Big City Mayors Caucus, tells 570 News, the website displays a running meter that measures lost time and money due to gridlock.

A link to the site can be found at fcm.ca.

From there, Zehr says people may send tweets and Facebook messages directly to the candidates.  Zehr says the transportation issue has been “conspicuous by its absence” during the election campaign.
