OPP say anyone hitting the 401 or expressway can be part of making the drive a safer one… by helping officers out.
Constable Ken Upton with Cambridge OPP tells 570 news policing has changed dramatically over the last 15 years beacuse of cell phones.
He says motorists can report things like crashes to OPP and other high priority incidents to police- like suspected impaired drivers.
He says drivers need to tell police things like this: Where they are, landmark, suspect, vehicle description.
Upton says “It’s important that while the driver can be assisting police with information.. that the driver does not become involved in the actual incident.”
OPP want to make sure callers are safe when passing along this info.
