Suspect in sexist posters at UW

The University of Waterloo Police are out with a description of a suspect as they investigate sexist posters being circulated at the school.

According to a report by the Canadian University Press, about a week and a half ago, a student saw a man distributing pamphlets under a door and reported in to university police.

He’s described as 5’9 to 5’11 with olive skin and dark hair and eyes. He was wearing a ski mask, dark shoes, dark dress pants, a puffy jacket and black gloves.

The investigation began after someone put up posters over the posters of female student election candidates. They showed Nobel Prize-winning chemist and physicist Marie Curie and read “The brightest woman this Earth ever created was Marie Curie, the mother of the nuclear bomb. You tell me if the plan of women leading men is still a good idea.”

The posters were later emailed to several staff and students, and since then, a number of other posters have been circulated.
