14-hour standoff in Paris

It was a tense scene in Paris for about 14 hours over the weekend as Brant County OPP found themselves in a standoff situation.

The OPP were called to a West River Street home in Paris as a man and woman were overheard in a heated argument Saturday, around 4:20 p.m.

Officers attended the residence and could not get a response from anyone inside, and set up an area of containment for safety precautions.

The OPP’s Western Region Emergency Response Team and the Western Region Tactics and Rescue Unit were at the scene.

Shortly after 6:35 a.m. yesterday police entered the house and arrested a 39-year old County of Brant man.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
