A record night

Matt Tipoff and the Kitchener Rangers wasted little time getting the 16th annual teddy bear toss out of the way last night.

Tipoff scored 56 seconds into the game, triggering an onslaught of teddy bears tossed onto the ice.

After they were all collected and counted, it was a new record: 6,952 stuffed toys bringing the total over the years to a whisker under 75,000 bears.

They will be given to charitable groups, that will in turn make sure they get to less fortunate children.

Pick up is on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 9 this morning at The Aud’s zamboni bay.

The Rangers, by the way, were 4-3 winners over the Guelph Storm.
