Hunting mishap: An “unfortunate incident”

A Woolwich Township man has been charged with careless use of a firearm after a very close call over the weekend in Breslau.

The 18-year-old was allegedly hunting deer in a field when a shotgun blast missed a deer and went through a window of Belgian Nursery on Victoria Street.

No one was hurt in Saturday’s incident, but a customer only missed being hit by the shot by a metre, or 3 feet.

Regional Police are cautioning hunters to be very careful, especially when near populated areas.

George Wagner with Shooter’s Choice in Waterloo is calling the mishap an “unfortunate incident.”

He says it is very uncommon, given the fact that thousands of hunters were out deer hunting last week.
