Long weekend travel tips

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’re planning on doing any travel today, be prepared to wait.  As every long weekend goes, there are line-ups at the borders, ferries and perhaps at the airport.

Deb Marshall with BC Ferries explains all resources are being tapped to handle the crowd.  “We’ve got lots of extra staff at the terminals and on the ships.  We do have extra sailings particularly between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay and we also have an additional vessel operating between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay.”

She says people should get to the terminal at least half an hour beforehand.  Marshall adds just because online reservations are full, it doesn’t mean the ship is full.

Things at YVR have been running smooth all day.  Staff is advising people flying out to check YVR’s website to check the status of any flights.
