Local tech company to create 400 new jobs

A local high tech company will be adding to its work force.

Open Text will add 400 jobs at its operations here in Waterloo and in Richmond Hill and Ottawa.

The province is providing a grant of  $33.75-million  as part of Open Text’s total investment of $225-million over the next five years.

The money will create the jobs that will help the company capture a larger share of the growing digital media industry including areas like green computing, mobile applications and high performance systems.

Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities John Milloy says Open text isn’t sure on how many of the jobs will be here in waterloo  

The jobs are being called high value with Milloy saying they are good paying jobs with individuals who will create a spin-off in the local economy.
