David Street apartments to be rebuilt

A Kitchener social housing project will be rebuilt.
Regional Council has approved spending $2.4-million provincial dollars on the David Street project.
Currently, there are four buildings on the site, but many of the units were cleared of tenants this past summer after mould was found inside.
Officials debated for months whether to repair the buildings or knock them down and start anew.
CTV reports the region voted last night to start fresh, and build one structure there instead of four.
It’s not clear when work will begin, although the initial plan called for it to start in the spring.
