College teachers to vote next Wednesday

With the possibility of a strike still looming, Ontario’s 9,000 community college teachers will vote on a so-called final contract offer next Wednesday.  While OPSEU says the latest offer should be rejected, Conestoga College President John Tibbits tells 570 News the offer is fair given the current economy.
He says he has spoken to a number of faculty at the college and he thinks people understand why changes have been made.
The current offer includes a 5.9 per cent wage hike over 3 years.
The strike deadline has been moved to February 17th to allow for more talks should the offer be voted down February 10th.
