World leaders reach Climate agreement

An accord brokered by US President Barack Obama with China and other emerging economies has been recognized by the U.N. climate conference.

The decision followed an all night plenary session, where a group of nations, including Bolivia, Cuba, Sudan and Venezuela, blocked the accord due to a lack of specific targets for reducing carbon emissions.
Although the agreement hasn’t been formally approved, the conference president has “taken note” of it.

Experts say that means the accord could become operational in practice, even though it has not been formally approved.
